a 360° film
It was my great pleasure to do the full post production on this piece, a Cinematic 6k Stereoscopic escape. having needed to cut down the initial edit to under 7 minutes I am the lucky one who got to stitch, review and experience over 6 hours of unique footage, amongst the greatest of apes, I urge you to view in a headset, stand eye to eye with a Silverback and feel what its like to live in the Bamboo forests of Rwanda.
with the field team using both the insta360 Pro and the Kandao Obsidian R, I had to use each cameras proprietary software to export monoscopic “Rushes” (or quick stitches) to make decisions on what shots to use. over 3 hours of footage was rendered out before it was cut down to a final 6 minute cut.
The high fidelity of the final quality of this piece, coupled with the notoriously difficult nature of Stereoscopic 360° cleanups this was definitely one of the most challenging projects when it came to stitching & cleanups,
at 6k output the eye notices any unnatural discrepancies thus the need to remove any crew, gear with a realistic representation of the expected background for 2 perspectives.
